Strangely, I had a feeling about the Webster's when I bought hamburgers to make on our old Safari Grill as Tic used to make them for us all of the time. They were quick and simple and delicious. Ah Tic, why did you have to go? I wanted to see you one more time you know. It hurts having you gone. Love and hugs, Janeal
Tic was one of my oldest friends, having met when he and Brendan moved to Chicago in 1972. Tic and I were colleagues at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle (as it was called then), as well as neighbors in Evanston. I bolted for the west two years later to continue my career at the University of Colorado. Tic escaped a year later, and neither of us ever looked back. Tic was indeed a "gentle giant" in many ways. Although soft-spoken, he made his opinions well known. Until reading his obituary, I had no idea just how huge his impact was on the architectural heritage of California. We can all be thankful of his efforts to preserve so many wonderful adobe structures. Tic and I had one of those wonderful self-maintaining friendships in which we would go for long periods of time without seeing or hearing from each other, but each time we saw each other again, it was just like yesterday. I miss you, Tic. Thank you for being part of my life. Bear
