Ted Bache, 73, a 35-year resident of the Bay Area and specifically Menlo Park, died January 9, 2012.
Born in New York City, NY, he moved to the Bay Area in the 1970s. A self-professed crazy reader his entire life ("I was born with a book in my hand and a cigarette in my mouth"), he filled his life with stories.
Ted started his career as a writer for the Bridgeport (CT) Telegram, went on to work for Pan American Airlines; he founded and operated Peninsula Magazine out of Palo Alto, and eventually a resume writing service.
An avid golfer, Ted was a Northern California Golf Association rules official, and he worked as a marshal at the Stanford University golf course.
Ted's favorite golf stories are that of crossing paths with a young and soon-to-be-superstar golfer -- Tiger Woods on the Stanford course.
Ted is survived by his sister Gwen (Bache) Gunther; brother Bob Bache; Geraldine Bache; children Lisa (Bache) Coates, Darrell Bache, Allison (Bache) Boudreau, and Christopher Bache; three grandchildren; and longtime consort Margo Sensenbrenner.
