Paul Steven Lucas was born May 22, 1953 and passed away on March 6, 2014 at the age of 60.
Paul lived in both San Francisco and Oakland; he often worshiped at the Church of Christ in San Francisco. He is preceded in death by his father Dr. Leroy Lucas and his beloved sister Laurie Beth Lucas.
Paul was born in Washington D.C. When Paul was a young boy, Dr. Lucas moved the family from Mississippi to Palo Alto, California. Paul graduated with honors from Gunn High School in 1971. Paul was a Cal Berkeley alum. He graduated from Cal Berkeley in 1975 with honors majoring in Political Science and Economics.
Paul worked in commodities from 1976 through 1994; he worked for various banks and on the floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange and was one of the most successful Investment Advisors at Merrill Lynch for more than a decade. Paul held many titles in business and computer technology.
Paul was an avid reader and loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling. Paul ended his career in the late 90s in order to travel and devote more time to his family. Paul was a handsome, confident, loving and caring man - a true gentleman with a heart of gold. Paul was a loving devoted son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Paul's loving smile and silent chuckles will be remembered.
Paul is survived by his mother, Vera Smith Lucas, twin brothers, Julian and Jeffrey Lucas, and sister Roi Diane Lucas Hall, who all reside in Oakland; three nephews, one niece, two great-nieces, one great-nephew and three great-great nephews; and one aunt and a host of loving cousins.
We thank God for blessing us with his life. Paul left a legacy to be proud of; he encouraged intellectual excellence and loved his family dearly. Paul will be forever remembered in our hearts and minds and sorely missed.
