Charles “Herb” Kelty passed away on December 18, 2022 in Mountain View, California. He is survived by his three sons, Steve, Will and Kurt. He also leaves two grandchildren: Emy and Nina. The last decade he spent with his loving girlfriend, Courtney, who was by his side until the end. He attended the University of Chicago and graduated with degrees in Physics and Liberal Arts in 1958. He worked as an engineer for multiple companies early on until he found his niche running his own company making custom plastic and rubber parts. He settled in Palo Alto in 1977 and was a well known face at the established bars at the time (the Gatehouse, Talbots and Henry’s). Always outspoken and ready to strike up conversations with anyone, and always opinionated, he was well known among the downtown residents and office workers.
