Barbara Noble (Haines), born July 22, 1940, died of cancer 15 March 2011, in Bennington, Vermont, after a short illness. Born in Rochester, New York, she attended Brighton Schools and graduated from the University of Rochester in 1962. Barbara was the Feature Editor for the Columbus Times before moving to Menlo Park, California. An editor and staff writer for the (Woodside, CA) Country Almanac and Redwood City Almanac, she also taught writing. Among her clients and students are NYT bestselling author Ken Fisher, and the Palo Alto Adult School. Ten years ago she moved to Manchester Center, Vermont.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. Noble and Kathryn Cromwell Noble. She is survived by her son, Russell T. Haines (Suzy) (La Honda, California), and sisters and brother; Penelope Tobey (Charles) (Amsterdam, New York), Karen Noble Hanson (Rochester, New York), Scott C. Noble (Sandy) (Stowe, Vermont), an Aunt, Barbara Hunter (Robert) (Highland Mills, New York), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
