Barbara gave me a gift I can never repay. She was an incomparable writing instructor and a beautiful human being. What she taught me changed my life. She touched MANY people's lives through her teaching. She taught the rules of writing, then effective ways to break those rules. She had high standards but knew how to be kind in imparting them. (If she were here, she'd tell me to rewrite that sentence! I wish she could.) My sincerest condolences to her family and friends.
