Lasting Memories

Zhejing Zhou
1970-Jan. 22, 2020
Palo Alto, California

Zhejing “Jenny” Zhou, a 13 year resident of Palo Alto, passed away on January 22nd at Stanford hospital. She was 49.

Jenny was born in Shenzhen, China to father Weijun, a school teacher, and mother Jieying, a village doctor. Her mother passed away from cancer when Jenny was a young teen. Her father became a successful entrepreneur in the 80s, enabling him to send her to the United States after she studied at Shenzhen University.

In the US, she received a bachelors degree at the University of Oregon, followed by a master's degree at ITU. Educated in computer science, she focused in the energy sector, first at ABB, Nexant, and lastly at PGE as a financial analyst.

Jenny met her husband Henry in 2007, marrying in 2009. They persevered many challenges in conceiving a child, with the successful birth of daughter Olivia in 2013.

Jenny had a lifelong interest in learning and education, sparked by her father's interest, achieving a real estate agent license, studying feng shui and bazi, and project management certificate. Most recently, she had worked toward a PhD degree in database administration, which she was ultimately awarded posthumously, as an honorary degree by the university.

For enjoyment, Jenny loved travel, trying new foods, cultivating her many and long-lasting friendships, and exploring activities around the Bay Area. Her friends recall with fondness her genuine friendliness and eagerness to share her discoveries, while her family cherishes and misses her most for her loving nature.

Jenny is survived by her daughter Olivia and husband Henry.
