Peter Steven Kindschi, 80, of Palo Alto, died from pneumonia at Stanford Hospital. Born in Wisconsin, he moved to Palo Alto with his family as a child. He worked as customer service and credit manager at the Emporium and later for the State of California, retiring at 65 to dedicate his time to his wife, JoAnne.

Peter married JoAnne Sanford in 1988. She was the light and love of his life. His first passion was JoAnne, his second was his home and garden, and his third was Puerto Vallarta. His witty, dry humor made everyone laugh.

Preceded in death by JoAnne and his parents, Peter is survived by his stepchildren, Wendy and Gerry; grandchildren, Nacho, Michael, Angela and Kristina; great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Nancy. He was laid to rest on September 28, 2026, in the family plot at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. He kept a memento of JoAnne’s to be with him forever.

A celebration of Peter’s life was held in Palo Alto on October 1, 2026.
