Palm Desert, California

Michael Trollope, 81, passed away peacefully Aug 20th 2024, in Palm Desert California surrounded by his cherished wife of 24 years, Denise Monfette-Trollope, and close friends. The cause of death was metastatic cancer and Parkinson's Disease. Michael was born in Kansas and grew up with a keen intellect and a strong sense of curiosity. He was an honor student and an Eagle Scout. He studied at KU as an undergrad, completed medical school at USC and his surgical residency at Ann Arbor. Michael dedicated his professional life to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation and Stanford University Hospital. His contributions were not only seen in his work but felt in the compassion and care he brought to those around him. In his years of service, he touched countless lives, not just through his expertise but also through his ability to connect with people on a personal level.

Outside of his work, Michael had many passions that enriched his life and those who were fortunate enough to share them with him. His love for photography allowed him to capture the beauty of the world around him, preserving moments of wonder, joy, and reflection.

Golf was another of Michael’s great loves. The game brought him peace and a sense of camaraderie, and those who played alongside him know that his enthusiasm on the course was contagious.

And then there were computers. Michael was a lifelong learner, fascinated by technology and the way it allowed him to expand his research and interests. He loved diving into the intricacies of systems, solving problems, and staying up-to-date with the latest innovations. It was more than a hobby—it was a reflection of his curious and analytical mind.

Michael's journey took him from Los Altos to Palo Alto, and finally to retirement in Palm Desert, where he and Denise built a deep community of friends. Michael carried a sense of home with him wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Besides his wife, Denise, Michael is survived by his four children, David Trollope, Karen Zlendick, Wendy Stonehouse and Debbie Gillespie, and six beloved grandchildren.
