Marquita "Kita" Marie Curtis died peacefully on Saturday December 10 at the age of 87 at Stanford Hospital ICU after a long battle with lung cancer and recently Covid Pneumonia. She was born and raised in St. Charles Missouri. She went to school at Saint Peters Elementary and High School and then Missouri University. After college, she moved to California with her husband, James "Jim" Curtis in 1960 to start a new life and raise a family. She was married to Jim for 51 years until Jim passed in 2011. She is survived by her children Shelly (husband Jon Pargh), Steven, David, and Richard, her grandchildren David and Billy, and great grandson Max. She was also very close to her older brother Norm Klotz. She went back to college and received a degree in psychology from San Jose State. She was an office manager for several different companies and was a vital part of their successes. Kita was an avid tennis enthusiast and was Co-president of the Palo Alto Tennis club Jim for many years. She played tennis with her son Richard into her early 80’s. She loved traveling, which took her to France and Costa Rica. Her love of languages got her to try learning French and Spanish later in her life. Kita loved to watch and cheer on the local sports teams such as the 49ers and Warriors and was very vocal when the players would do something great and also when they would make mistakes. She also loved music and tried her hand at piano and ukulele and singing Jazz. Her love of singing brought her to join the Aurora Singers, a local choir. She had a fondness for games and puzzles and always wanted to have something to occupy and challenge her mind such as doing a daily crossword. She felt learning and education were very important. A celebration of Life for Kita will be planned for some time in June of 2023.
