John“JP”Peterson, 74, of Mt. View, CA passed away on Sunday February 27, 2022. Born in Tiburon, CA to Lurther Thaddus Peterson II and Eliebeth (Betty Dubey) Peterson. JP was preceded in death by his father Luther II, and his mother Betty, his brother Luther (Pete) III, sister-in-law Royce, his son Greg, daughter-in-law Jolee, grandson Zach and brother-in-law Darryl Wallace. He is survived by his wife Debbie of 21 years, his daughter Sarah, son-in-law Andrew, his son Matt, daughter-in-law Alica, grandchildren Jesse, Athena, Ruby and Milo, beloved nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. JP’s father graduated from MIT and worked for the National Park Service. John spent his youth living in many national parks in the American West including Great Basin, Grand Tetons, Carlsbad Caverns and Yosemite where Ansel Adams was their dinner guest on many occasions.

JP eventually settled in the Bay Area where he studied his true passion and talent. In 1979 he graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, first in his class. He worked as Executive Chef at Pebble Beach and Stanford Park Hotel before owning Henry’s Restaurant located on a University Ave in Palo Alto. Henry’s was his passion until it closed in 1996. Cooking was a love that JP learned from his parents and he shared with all who knew him. JP and Debbie enjoyed entertaining from BBQing to wine pairing or catering their friend's daughter’s prom night. He enjoyed adding his gourmet touch to every meal. Thank you JP for being the husband, father, uncle, grandpa, and friend that you were and whom we will hold in our hearts forever.
