Clare, who died peacefully at home on August 6th, was born May 31, 1946, to Douglas Sherwood Tipton and Florence Alice (Langfeldt) Tipton, in Queens, New York City. She grew up with older brother Douglas II and three younger sisters, Linda Janet (Harmon), Karen Wanda (Hlebo) and Joan Elinor (Huffman). About 1952, the family moved to the San Francisco peninsula and Clare attended Menlo Atherton High School. The family later moved to a ranch in Los Gatos, CA. Clare married Rudolph Simmons in 1963 and had two daughters, Rene’ Lyn and Suzanne Mary. While living in Sunnyvale, they separated in 1971 and divorced. Clare married Jeffrey Richard Tucker in 1972; they lived with the family in Los Gatos and added son Richard Ashley and daughter Cinthia Lacey. After time living in Hayward and Newark, in 1980 they moved to Jeff’s hometown of Mountain View, CA. Clare worked an assortment of jobs in technology, banking and retail around her prime accomplishment of caring for and raising her children and grandchildren. Besides being a dear lover and beloved mother, she was an accomplished cook, writer, poet, calligrapher, artist, painter, seamstress, quilter, and jewelry maker. She was a connoisseur of literature, art and antiques. She enjoyed yard sales, caring for her plants and studying her Bible. She liked crossword puzzles, solitaire and Scrabble. Clare was preceded in death by her son Richard, son-in-law Samuel Lindsay, her brother and parents. Clare is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her three daughters, Rene’ & Todd Patterson, Suzanne & Steve Rickman, and Cinthia Lindsay; daughter-in-law Farzana; her five granddaughters, five grandsons, and two great-granddaughters; her three sisters and many more family members and friends, who all miss her dearly.
