Autumn Joy Stanley, 84, a 60 year resident of Portola Valley passed away peacefully on September 20th after a long illness. In her memoirs, “Autumn Leaves” she quotes Vivian Greene: “ Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” She was preceded in death by her parents William E and Donna S Stanley of Jackson, Ohio and her companion of many years, David A Brewer. She is survived by her sister Dixie French of Kettering Ohio and four children, Kathyrn Hickinbotham of Idaho Falls Idaho, Holly Parnigoni and Iris Beiswanger of Santa Rosa CA, and Kevin Simmons of Sebastopol, CA. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Autumn was an accomplished scholar who published two historical textbooks, many technical papers, and childrens books. She is known for her kindness, love of family, love of beauty, photography, singing voice, honesty, community involvement and so many things. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
