Alan Anderson, 85, a 50-year resident of Menlo Park died on June 6, 2013.

He was born in Los Angeles on March 27, 1928 & grew up in Southern California. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Philippines, Hawaii, Florida & Connecticut. he returned to graduate from Stanford University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1956.

He worked at the young Hewlett-Packard & at various other firms in Silicon Valley until he & some friends founded Pacific Measurements. With 2 colleagues he started Mark V Assoc. & retired from that company in 1993.

He loved meeting new people, learning new things, & keeping up with technology. His curiosity was wide-ranging. He enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing, opera, boating, cars & anything to do with the ocean!

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlene V. Anderson of Menlo Park, two daughters -- Debra Anderson of Redwood City & Dana Anderson-Au of Cupertino -- and two granddaughters, Nicole Anderson-Au & Madison Anderson-Au also of Cupertino.
