Sharon Lynne Bishop
Feb. 17, 1943-March 7, 2016
Mountain View, California

Sharon Lynne (Casey) Bishop of Mountain View, CA passed away peacefully at El Camino Hospital on March 7, 2016 at the age of 73 with her loving family by her side. She bravely battled Multiple Myeloma for several years, amazing her doctors with how well she tolerated treatment and always with a smile.

She was born February 17, 1943 in San Francisco to Howard Francis Casey and Ardella Dorothy (Merritt) Casey and grew up in Palo Alto, where she attended Van Auken Elementary, Jordan and Wilbur Junior High Schools and Cubberly High School.

Sharon met David Bishop on a blind date while they were still in high school. After dating for 5 ½ years, they were married in a private ceremony on July 5, 1963 in Carson City, Nevada. This past year, they celebrated their 52nd Anniversary.

Sharon began an office career during her senior year of high school at Prudential Insurance, and worked as a medical secretary at the Palo Alto Veteran’s Administration in the early '60s and then took time off to start a family.

As the children started school in the early '70s, Sharon re-entered the work force as a league coordinator at Camino Bowl in Mountain View. Later, Sharon worked as an administrative secretary in the budding computer industry, as well as a Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. In the '90s, she began working for venture capital firms as an executive assistant. Through the years, Sharon made many close friends in her places of employment and was known for her contagious smile, hard work, incredible memory, attention to detail and dedication to always being a team-player.

For many years, Sharon enjoyed bowling and served on the Foothill Women’s Bowling Association Board of Directors, attending conventions across the country. She loved vacationing in Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Hawaii and Mexico. Sharon was most proud of her children and her grandchildren, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family - even taking a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon last summer!

Sharon is survived by her husband, David Bishop; daughter, Juliana Bishop (of Mountain View), daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Mark Holderman, and grandchildren David and Elizabeth Holderman (of San Jose); sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bart Phelps (of Sunnyvale); nephews, James, Daniel and Matthew Phelps and their caring families. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ardella Casey.
